How to make a village-style Green jack fruit salad

Yesterday I visited one of friends’ house for lunch who recently came to my city for his new job. previously he lived in a beautiful village. For that reason, he prepares lots of village foods when we have dinner or lunch together. I also like to eat village foods because most of them nice and taste good to me. Yesterday he introduce green jack fruit salad to me. It’s my first time that I ate this salad.

Jack fruit is a fruit native to Southeast Asian countries. Young (unripe) jack fruit called green jack fruit. There are various recipes to cook green jack fruit. Such as curry, cutlets, and salad.



  • Green jack fruit – 01
  • Red onions – 50g
  • Green chili – 03
  • Pepper powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Pinch of turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 lime

Let’s cook

First, you need to wash and peel green jack fruit and cut into big pieces. Then mix a pinch of turmeric and salt into the water and boil it for 5 minutes. After boil pieces, you have to cut them into small pieces.

Then chop red onions, green chili into small pieces and mix with boiled green jack fruit pieces. Now add 1/4 teaspoon pepper powder, 1/2 lime juice, and salt to taste into the green jack fruit salad. finally, mix all together in a bowl and serve to the table.

How does it taste

Green jack fruit salad has a nice taste. It feels like a normal vegetable salad but the jackfruit gives little crunchy feeling when I ate them. overall it’s delicious and has a uncommon taste. Mostly it suitable as a side dish to eat with some meat or rice. But I think it’s ok to eat as a light dinner as well.
It depends on the choice of the person.
